british fashion awards

keep dreaming that one day i'll actually be attending the british fashion awards on day, dreaming being the key word in this sentence.
i have been looking at all the pictures from last night and how amazing did everyone look, and i think the right people won the right awards - cara delevingne deffo deserved to win model of the year, she has been my favourite ever since she started modeling for ASOS.

this little post is just to show you a couple favourite looks of the night.

L - R: Alexa Chung, Andrea Riseborough, Cara Delevinge, Laura Bailey.
my particular favourite is laura baileys outfit, i love the girlyness of the dress but she some how makes it look edgy - i want to find a dress like this.

also alexa chungs boots - oh my god.

asos do it again

ASOS are currently giving 25% student discount again, it seems they can't get enough of doing it these days and since setting up my UNIdays i can take full advantage (well i would if i wasnt so poor at the minute). last time they did this i brought this cropped roll neck, i am a little bit obsessed with roll necks ever since i brought one from American Apparel and this is like my 4th or 5th. it fits so so nice and matches everything and at just £12 (£9 with 25% discount) it is a steal.

ASOS 90's Rollneck Crop Top

I thought i'd do show you what items i would buy using the discount this month, basically toture myself looking at things i cant buy - as usual!

hipst3r tun3z

last night i went with my boyfriend to a gig to do DIIV (pronounced dive), i hadnt really listened to them before, more of a brief listen to see what i was letting myself into. i was pleasantly surprised as it was a really fun gig and the support acts were also REALLY good - they were Tops and Mac Demarco, it was nice to go to see a band and the support acts are like at the same sort of level as the headliner. so yeah, over all it was well good - although as you can probably guess from the title of this post, it was deffo the hippest night of my life, someone in DIIV was wearing baggy tracksuit bottoms with white socks and loafers - but they were still good ha!

the gig happened at deaf institute, which is one of my favourite venues in manchester, last night was the first time i had been to a gig there which was lovely. but i would deffo recommend it for a night out, it's so nicely decorated in there (what a girly thing to say). we tend to go on tuesday when its Gold Teeth, but you have to get there early because its gets soooo busy! i hear other nights are good to but i am yet to try them out, i'll keep you updated!

a recent buy

i keep meaning to do a post about things i have brought recently, as i am constantly spending. doing a post would probably freak me out in the money stakes to be quite honest as i've definitely spent more that i should have - story of my life!

for now i'm just going to show a little piccy of some shoes i recently brought from Office, as they are probably my favourite item that i have recently brought (well those and my coat). I am going to do a couple of outfit posts hopefully this week if i can get some pictures on here and then i will talk about my coat which is like my little baby, sad but so so true.

these are 'easy going' shoes from office which you can find here. i've wanted some dr marten shoes for so so long but i really cant afford the hefty £90 price tag that comes with them. so when i saw these shoes in office i thought i probably needed them. they were £55 which is more than i'd usually pay but i used student discount which reduced the price by £5.50 and i used my birthday money as i knew i needed some winter shoes and i thought that these would be a great alternative to boots (although now i've seen some boots that i also want, whoops).

they are really comfy shoes but i will worn that they do rub at first but i think thats due to them being quite stiff when first brought, which i think it expected with real leather shoes. i've found myself wearing them with literally everything, they match so so much.

i'd deffo recommend them, especially if you wanted the dr marten shoes and cant afford them, like me!

mark lupfer for asos

As i'm sure we are all aware, the mark lupfer collection collaboration with ASOS black kicks off today! designer collections seem to be growing more and more popular but i think that is due to increase in a lot of young people wanting something a little more high end, i am definitely one of these people! i'm hoping that one day i will be able to just run out and grab something designer, but obviously at the minute, i can't on this student budget. therefore i do tend to keep my eye on defusion ranges, i do like some of the piece in the Markus Lupfer collection but i doubt i'll be buying anything because it's all a little formal for me and i tend to buy piece that are more casual as i never really tend to dress up, something i'm hoping to make up for one day!

these are my 2 favourite pieces that have been shown on Vogue, to be honest i would   probably consider buying the trousers because i can see myself wearing them!

is anyone going to buy any of the collection,  let me know if you are!!

wishlist

1. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200833345289&var=500111439398&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en
I really love these chelsea boots and they are a steal at just £21.99, good old ebay. I think i'll be buying these as soon as I get paid because i'm already thinking of what they'll match, I really want to be able to wear midi dresses and i've seen some lovely trousers around and i know these will match perfectly so these are a must!

2. http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=7469705&langId=-1&categoryId=&searchTerm=lace%20paisley&pageSize=20
I have  been looking at this dress for a while and i'm so torn about it, i do really love it but i don't know if i am prepared to pay nearly £40 a dress because i know that i'll be bored of it in a couple of months, but it is a really gorgeous dress.

3. http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=201&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&productId=7939277&langId=-1&sort_field=Relevance&categoryId=277012&parent_categoryId=208491&pageSize=200
This dress would be a lot more diverse than number 2 and I think i'd probably wear it a lot more as I brought a similar short sleeved version from primark over the summer and i still wear that now (in fact i've had it on today) so i am really considering this dress as it'll be easy to dress up or down.

4. http://www.zara.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product/uk/en/zara-neu-W2012/269185/1001008/PRINTED%20DRESS
Absolutely adore this dress, I think it is so so nice. the pattern and the fit of the dress is very 60's, which is something I love. I have a staff christmas party at the beginning of december so i am a little tempted to buy it to wear to that (with the little heeled chelsea boots) for a more casual look.

5. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vintage-Satchel-hand-crafted-Leather-14-inches/dp/B0054JI24I/ref=sr_1_21?ie=UTF8&m=A3GE26J40FUE4R&qid=1352675400&s=generic&sr=1-21
This bag is like a little ray of sunshine amongst all the dark colours I have been picking out and I think that is why i like it so much. this is a satchel company version so is quite expensive at £104, not what I would usually pay but i have seen an identical version in H&M that i may put on my christmas list. I think it would be an effective way to just brighten up dark outfits.

6. http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk/search/esearch.tmpl?search=rocker+&search_submit.x=0&search_submit.y=0
When i was looking at the MAC website i was looking at a few of the brighter colours but I think i'd like this 'rocker' shade because it's just a lot more wintery and I think darker colours will suit how pale i become.

7. http://www.forever21.com/UK/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=whatsnew_all&ProductID=1030187325&VariantID=
LOVE this necklace from Forever 21, i have been eyeing up a similar version from Urban Outfitters for a long time but there was no chance I was parting with £14 for one. So when i go back to birmingham this weekend i shall be scouring the store for this.

halloween

had such a good day yesterday!
firstly a woman from ASOS came in to uni to talk about placements, i'm deffo applying there because the company sounds so so amazing and the building is in camden and it would be so brilliant to live there. so i'll keep you up to date with what happens and other placements i will be applying for. at the minute i want to apply for debenhams, river island, asos and burberry - i'm not sure which other ones will be coming up!

i didnt mention but i had a job interview for a christmas temp for debenhams and i found out yesterday that i have got the job!!! i am very very excited to start on saturday, i am working in the womens formal wear department so that should be lovely over the christmas period with everyone coming in and getting their christmas sparklies!! i also get a nice little 25% discount off debenhams products so i know where i'll be getting everyones presents from, how cheeky!

then last night i went out for halloween, as i imagine most of us did - i went as the standard cat last year so i wanted to make more of an effort this year! i decided to go as a clown and quite a scary one, i still have blood on my face too prove it. we went to sankeys but it was far too busy so we left after just 2 hours, i thought we had been there for so long whoops! reiss went as an old woman, even wore a bra (my strange boy) - quite embarrassing though because he was just wearing my clothes which i think says something about me.

hope everyone had a lovely halloween, i'm looking forward to seeing everyones costume posts!

trends

there is one trend that is really upsetting me at the minute, and that is the camo/khaki trend - i just cannot stand it. i can't go into a shop at the minute without seeing something without the dreaded print. i just think it's been really overdone recently, especially teamed with a pair of nike blazers and a beanie - cringe. don't get me wrong, i have seen them pulled off - very rarely when a more sophisticated lady slips one on they can perhaps be deemed acceptable.
(this also goes for the khaki coat with the leather sleeves)

on the other hand, trends i am loving this winter are wools, patterned heels and what Vogue called 'countryside alliance' back in july.
here are some examples of patterned heels that are on the market at the minute, i particularly like this trend because i think that a heels with a pattern can add that extra something to an outfit that may start of plain. they are also great if like me you wear a lot of black because they are perfect to team with a LBD.

vintage haul

like i mentioned in my last post, there is an event in manchester that sells a kilo of vintage clothes for £15 it is literally my favourite thing but they only do it every so often and i make sure i make the most of it, this event was on saturday, these are the things i managed to get for just £15!!!! i brought all of the items below minus the black shirt but i thought i'd add that on because that is something i have brought recently (seen in my post yesterday). all of the items are quite casual because i feel like i just need a few new things to wear for uni, although i did wear the floral top on saturday with my leather look skater skirt to watch the band 'PINS' which dressed it up a little but not too much, i think that and the check shirt are items i will  be wearing the most as they'll match so much!

This is just a little video of the all girl group 'PINS' who me and my boyfriend went to see at 'Soup Kitchen' in the northern quarter, if you've never listened to them I would definitely recommend them, they we so good! I hadn't even really listened to them until saturday, reiss (my other half) likes them and had been nagging at me for ages to go and to be fair he does usually have better music taste than i, my itunes would make music snobs weep!

chanel and brad pitt

I was just watching the new Brad Pitt Chanel No5 advert which has been shown for the first time today when i stumbled across this little video, it's so cute and gives a nice little history of the perfume. i'm sure everyone has smelt or at least is aware of Chanel No5, it's not my favorite scent but no one can deny how much of an iconic symbol of classic feminine beauty it is. i imagine wearing this perfume when i reach a more mature age.

This is a pretty random post but I just couldn't help but post this video, here is the new advert featuring brad pitt for those who haven't seen it (thank me later).

favourite outfits this week

This is a little post to show two of my favourite outfits this week (boyfriend included in one of the photos, he's been moaning that he isn't on my blog yet).

Right: Shirt - Charity Shop, Cycling Short - ASOS, Shoes - Urban Outfitters, Jewllery - Forever 21.
Left: Dress - Vintage, Belt - Urban Outfitters, Shoes - Vintage.
These are 2 of my favourite outfits this week, the one on the left is from when i went out - my boyfriend decided to jump in on this photo but i do like his outfit too, i chose his polo from a charity shop it was only £3.99 i think it's such a bargain. Where i'm currently living in manchester, withington - the highstreet has so many charity shops, one even has a vintage shop out the back so i've gone a little bit charity shop crazy! back onto the outfit topic, i did feel a little bit gothic in this outfit but i do like wearing all black every now and then, i wore a bright pink barry m lipstick to brighten up the outfit so i thought this was a subtle way to make it less "serious".

The outfit on the right is really a summery outfit, but i wore this to uni to brighten up these rainy manchester days! these two outfits couldn't get more polar opposite to be honest but i think they show that my outfits can be really diverse! i got this dress from a special vintage event where they sell a kilo of clothes for £15 - its the most amazing thing but i will talk about this in a different post!!! i wore this dress quite a few times over the summer because it was so easy to just throw on with some sandals and a denim jacket!

different outfits this week

i thought i'd upload some pictures of a couple of outfits i've been wearing this week and soon i'll upload some pictures of the items i've brought recently too!

as you'll be able to tell from the pictures i keep wearing a 'hearts and bows' faux leather skirt, i've wanted one for so long that i couldn't resist when i saw it in ark as i think £23 is really cheap! i then saw that asos are selling HERE it so i'd deffo get your hands on one because they match absolutely everything and it's my biggest reccomendation of anything i've brought recently.

sorry that some of the pictures are really bad quality, just getting used to all of this.

Anna Dello Russo H&M...

Just been looking through Anna Dello Russo's H&M collection on Vogues website, for someone who loves all things gold and jewellery it is heaven! I mean the collection is pretty busy at parts and there is a lot going on but as a whole the collection is really nice and if i don't make my way to H&M tomorrow i am going to be heart broken.

I really like the turquoise that Anna has used and I think that it'll look stunning in the summer as it's not really a winter collection.

These are a few of my favorite bits from the collection.

first wish list...

i really, really need some new boots for the winter and i think these boots from office are the perfect choice, i'm a little obsessed with anything platformed so i think i need them a little bit - my theory is they'll keep me elevated from puddles so, pretty and practical. the other items arent the most practical for the winter period but i just cant resist american apparel and i think the motel rocks off the shoulder top is really diverse, i could dress it up for a night out with a pleated leather skirt or wear it to uni with my high waisted levi jeans (my new love). i am actually ordering my reebok classics as we speak, i went to get them from sports direct and the girl working was just really rude and i just had to leave, the beauty of internet shopping is you don't have to deal with anyone ruining your shopping experience!

forgetful me..

I'm the person in the middle - this is me with 2 of my uni friends.
i would make up the excuse that i have been very busy with university, but i would be lying as i finished my first year in may - but i have been putting off blog posts and i didn't really know what to write and after reading a lot of peoples blogs i've decided a lot of them can be quite samey and i don't want to fall into that category. i am hoping to start posting a lot more often from now on! especially now i'm back in manchester, i want to take pictures of peoples 'street style' as people dress so well up here.

inexperienced

this is probably about the 3rd blog i have made, but i never end up sticking to them - for one reason or another. usually because i get quite embarrassed with what i'm writing, so who knows how long this may last. but let's not get negative (yet).

i thought this week would be a good one to start because last week i managed to get my hands on the shirt i'd be lusting after in the Versace Cruise Collection at H&M - the white silk one with butterflies and fruit, how spring/summer (i'm thinking of teeming it with my high waisted suede Topshop shorts for nights out) of course this involved getting out of bed 3 hours earlier than i had to followed by nearly half an hour of page refreshing but i definitely got there in the end - success! as i had already purchased something from the first collaboration the two brands did i figured i couldn't ruin tradition, so i would have to buy something else!  last time i opted for the palm tree leggings and the gold bracelet - which were VERY Versace. I have also noticed this look has been almost imitated by others stores, such as Motel Rocks with their baroque collection. So if you didn't manage to get your hands on the collection you can always look on there!
